Let Me In (2010)

let me in

A young boy who’s being bullied at school becomes friends with his female neighbor in the apartment next door.  As it turns out, the girl is a vampire.

This is a remake of the Norway movie “Let the right one in” which was release 2 years earlier. The movies are quite similar up to about the half way point. But “Let the right one in” then becomes a bit darker than “Let me in”. If you don’t mind reading movies, I suggest watching the original. It was better than the remake as is the usually the case.

Exactly who categorized this movie?? Seriously, aren’t horror movies supposed to somewhat scary or even the slightest bit creepy?  Note to self, next time I see a movie in categorized as Horror, Drama AND Mystery be prepared for anything but to be creeped out. Don’t get me wrong, I actually did like the movie. I like dramas. It’s just that going into a movie that it billed as Horror and the trailer looks like it’s a spooky movie, I want to be spooked. There were some scenes that were a bit violent, which you’d expect from a vampire movie. But, personally, I didn’t find this any more of a horror movie than the Twilight movies.

The vampire, Abby, is played by Chloe Grace Moretz who was great in the movie. She also played Mindy in the movie “Kick-Ass” and will be starring as Carrie in the anticipated remake of “Carrie”. The boy next door, Owen, is played by Lodi Smit-McPhee who played opposite Viggo Motensen in the movie “The Road”. He will also be playing Bevolio in the next “Romeo and Juliet” set to release year.

The movie is good and I do recommend seeing it. I liked it. Just don’t expect to be scared. It’s not a very scary movie at all.
